  • Culinary workers get benefits the 1st day of the month they become eligible.
  • Initial eligibility is when 336 hours of work are credited during a three month period (three months in a row – see “Getting Benefits” chart).
  • For every hour you work (and your employer contributes to the Fund) you get an hour of credit.
  • You stay covered for each eligibility period as long as you are credited with 224 hours during a two-month period (see “Keeping Benefits” chart).

You
Your Spouse
  • If you are legally married.
  • Coverage ends if you are legally divorce.
Your Children
  • Unmarried children up to age 19 (age 23 if they are full-time students
  • Unmarried children supported by you because of mental retardation or a physical handicap that began before age 19.
Your Domestic Partner
  • If you are the same sex, at least 18 years of age, have been in a relationship at least 6 months, and meet certain rules.
