What is acupuncture?

It’s a treatment that uses thin needles to help with health problems. The needles are put in your skin throughout parts of your body and placed in spots that focus on your health concern.

How can it help me?

It’s a way to reduce pain without medicine.

What health conditions can I use this benefit for?

The benefit only covers acupuncture for pain management of certain conditions, such as:

  • Acquired spondylolisthesis
  • Ankle sprain
  • Bell’s palsy
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome (tingling and numbness in your hands or arms)
  • Chronic headache
  • Chronic neck pain
  • Epilepsy
  • Fibromyalgia (condition that causes aches and pains all over the body)
  • Joint pain
  • Low back pain
  • Lower back sprain/‍strain
  • Myofascial pain (disorder that causes muscle pain)
  • Nausea (feeling like youʼre going to vomit) due to surgery, pregnancy, or cancer treatment (chemotherapy)
  • Pain from osteoarthritis of the hip or knee
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Rotator cuff syndrome
Acupuncture treatment is only covered if you go to an in-network acupuncture provider.

How much will this treatment cost?

  • There’s NO COPAY for acupuncture at the Culinary Health Centers.
  • There’s a $15 copay for in-network acupuncture visits outside of the health center.

How many times can I get this treatment?

There is a limit of 12 visits per calendar year.
