Healthy pepper steak recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (lb) of lean flank steak
  • ¼ cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of dry sherry or wine
  • 1 teaspoon (tsp) of sugar
  • ¼ cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of oil
  • 4 cloves of chopped garlic
  • 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of chopped ginger
  • 2 chopped scallions
  • 2 sliced green peppers
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon (tsp) of corn starch

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, stir together the soy sauce, sherry or wine, sugar, and water.
  2. Add the steak to the bowl, cover and let it sit for 15 minutes to marinate.
  3. Add the oil to a hot pan.
  4. Add the garlic, ginger, and scallions.
  5. Stir for 30 seconds.
  6. Remove the meat from the marinade and add to the pan.
  7. Cook for 3 minutes.
  8. Add the green peppers and onions, and cook for another 3 minutes.
  9. In a clean bowl, add the cornstarch to a small amount of the marinade to form a slurry.
  10. Add the slurry back to the marinade bowl, and stir.
  11. Add the marinade to the meat and vegetables in the pan, and cook until thickened and bubbly.
Your measuring spoon set may have tbsp, TBS, T, TB, or Tbl on it. They all mean tablespoon.
