On November 10, some of our participants received a scam text message that did not come from us. Although the message appeared to come from our official text number (36316), it was sent by an outside scammer, not by the Culinary Health Fund or any of our partners. We want to reassure you that:
- No participant information was accessed or exposed.
- Our system and records remain secure.
- We were not hacked. The situation was an issue with our text vendor, and it has been fixed!
The phishing scam asked for participants to call a phone number and give their banking information. This is what you need to do if you responded:
- If you called the number and hung up or if you replied to the text, they would not have access to any of your personal information. There’s no further action needed.
-
If you called the number and provided your banking information, please take the following steps:
- Call the Advocacy Line at 702-691-5665 to let us know as soon as possible.
- Call your bank immediately to submit a wire fraud claim. They should also have additional resources for you.
We sincerely apologize for this unfortunate situation. We are doing everything possible on our side and working with the vendor to ensure this situation does not happen again.
Please call our Advocacy Line at 702-691-5665 if you have any questions or want to talk about this further.
