Parmesan cheese

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of raw and shelled hemp seeds (also known as hemp hearts)
  • ¼ cup of nutritional yeast
  • ½ teaspoon (tsp) of garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon (tsp) of onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon (tsp) of kosher salt
  • Directions

    • Place all ingredients in a food processor fitted with the blade attachment.
    • Fix the lid in place. Turn the food processor on, and process for 15 seconds. Or, you can place in a blender and pulse 10 to 20 times.
    • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 months, or the shelf life of the hemp seeds, whichever comes first.

    Notes

    Nutritional yeast is a great source of protein, B vitamins and trace minerals. It adds a cheesy flavor without containing any dairy. Find it in the bulk aisle of a natural foods store or in many grocery chains. It adds an essential “cheesy” flavor to the recipe.
