No sugar added Christmas cookies recipe

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of shortening
  • 3 tablespoons (tbsp) of Splenda
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup of skim milk
  • 2 tablespoons (tbsp) of water
  • 1 teaspoon (tsp) of vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups of cake flour
  • ½ teaspoon (tsp) of salt
  • 2 teaspoons (tsp) of baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons (tsp) of ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Put the shortening in a mixing bowl, and mix by itself for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the Splenda.
  3. Mix for another 5 minutes.
  4. Add the egg, milk, water, and vanilla extract.
  5. Mix until combined.
  6. Into another bowl, sift the cake flour, salt, baking powder, and ground cinnamon.
  7. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix, forming a dough.
  8. Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.
  9. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface until ¼ inch thick.
  10. Cut into cookie shapes with cookie cutters.
  11. Place the cookies on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
  12. Bake at 350 degrees for 11 minutes.

Notes

  • You can mix a few drops of food coloring while forming the dough.
  • Your measuring spoon set may have tbsp, TBS, T, TB, or Tbl on it. They all mean tablespoon.
